A finely bound set of Schliemann's major works.

Schliemann, financial trickster and sometime arms dealer, and antiquities smuggler, an all-round larger-than-life character, became the most famous archaeologist of the second half of the nineteenth century, with a series of astonishing excavations at Troy and Mycenae. Although he is is reputed to have destroyed almost as much as he found, his discoveries include some of the greatest treasures of the ancient world, such as the mask of Agamemnon.

His publications became luxurious objects, generously illustrated and with ample descriptions. Uniformly bound sets of his works in such deluxe bindings are rarely seen.
