Fine copy of an early map first published at the start the First Opium War, which ended with the British acquisition of Hong Kong. At the time Hong Kong was a popular anchorage on the approach to Canton, at the time the only port open to British shipping. This map is one of the earliest English general maps of China to mark Hong Kong.
Showing Chinese provinces from Corea (sic) to Tibet and Haenan to the Gobi. The table provides figures for the area of each province plus population.
