  1. First edition, 2 vols 8vo, xxii, [i], 462; x, [iii], 499 pp., 2 frontispieces, 45 illustrations, 34 maps and plans (some folding), original dark grey cloth gilt, gilt vignettes to upper covers and spines, occasional light foxing as usual, inner hinges neatly repaired, an attractive set.

First edition, colonial issue; 8vo, (23 x 16 cm); frontispiece, letter from Government House (Australia) tipped in, leaves a little toned but otherwise unmarked internally; publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine, dark topstain, watermark to top edge, earliest state pale blue dust jacket, UK price clipped from jacket, Australian label applied to spine, some spotting to jacket, spine toned, overall a very good copy; 466pp.

  4. Silver gelatin print of Churchill seated, half-length, looking into the camera, mounted on plain card, signed on the mount, 'Winston S. Churchill 1948', the photographer's stamp on the reverse; framed and glazed (framed size 400 x 340 mm), toning to mount (as usual), otherwise near-fine.

  5. Depicting Churchill in 1951 during his second premiership, three-quarter length, seated, vintage silverprint, signed by sitter on mount 'Winston S. Churchill', copyright stamp on the reverse, minor rippling to mount where it meets the top edge, top right-hand corner of the photograph, (230 x 150mm); sealed behind contemporary glazing, which has preserved the photograph so well, these 60 years, this framed within a mount and glazed, polished black lacquer wood (400 x 310 mm).

First edition, volume III with author's presentation copy, inscribed 'To Louis Sacré from Winston Churchill, Nov. 1936' on front free endpaper; lge. 8vo; plates and maps (some folding), mild spotting to fore-edges of vols II & III and blank borders to the preliminary leaves of vol. III, otherwise very good; publisher's purple cloth gilt, fading to spines of first three vols, corners slight ribbed, otherwise a very good set.

Vols III-IV first editions, vols I-II reprinted; 4 vols, large 8vo; plates, maps and illustrations; full dark blue crushed morocco gilt by Sangorski & Sutcliffe (signed on turn-ins), spines tooled in gilt with raised bands, top edge gilt, a few small, minor and marks to covers, preserved in original card slipcases (one split).

I but in the main, clean and bright; lavish twentieth century full black morocco for Asprey, gilt-panelled and bordered with Churchillian devices to front and rear boards as well as the ribbed spins, silk doublures within twin-panelled dentelles, all edges gilt, a fine set.
