Engraved frontispiece complete with 232 engraved plates including 32 folding, and 95 engravings in text, including head and tail pieces by Gravelot, titles printed in red and black with a repeated engraved vignette by Cochin; outer margin of 3 leaves in vol. 2 sometime reinforced. Contemporary calf, spines with raised bands gilt in compartments, red and orange morocco labels lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, red egdes; neat restoration to joints and head and foot of spines.

Limited edition, one of 2500 copies; 4to (c.260 x 200 mm.); colour plates, pictorial title, vignettes and decorations by Brunelleschi; publisher's pictorial wrappers, minor splits at spine ends, otherwise very good.

II with 90 signed colour drawings avec remarque by Carlo Farnetti to illustrate an unpublished edition of the work, 6 watercolours on thick paper signed by Dignimont, 27 drawings (mostly signed some hand-coloured) by the same, and over 100 proof sheets (in colour and black and white) after Dignimont also to illustrate a previously published edition of the work; both housed in modern maroon morocco boxes.

Leaves measuring 19.4 cm x 13.8 cm. pp. [96], or, A8, B4, C8, D4, E8, F4, G-H6, with the final blank leaf (H6) present; occasional minor coeval underlining and marginalia to earlier part of text, very light faded stain to lower margin at gutter throughout (not affecting text), bibliographical clippings tipped onto front endpapers. Bound in antique style calf.

Tall 8vo; engraved portrait, contemporary green morocco in the Gothic style, multiple gilt fillets, decorative corner-pieces with red morocco onlays, elaborately gilt with red, sienna, burnt sienna and black onlays, flat spine, fan design within gilt fillets, red, sienna and black onlays, gilt dentelles and all edges gilt, by 'Gruel'.

Unique extra-illustrated example, limited edition printed hors-commerce on japon imperial for Monsieur Dumouchel, from a total edition of 525; 2 vols; 4to; illustrated with 25 monochrome etchings (of which 22 are hors-texte by Charles Huard and with two original copper plates by Huard, colour drawings throughout the text by Theodore van Elsen, signed and dated 1933, also loose are 9 wash drawings and 4 watercolours signed by Huard and a set of prospectus; vol II contains a suite of 30 colour drawings to illustrate the work, loose in an illustrated wrapper by van Elsen, with each drawing with tissue guards and mounted on blue paper, a suite of 20 original watercolours also to illustrate the work signed and captioned in pencil by Louis Ibels loose in an illustrated wrapper, dated 1933; vol.3 contains over 100 original drawings signed by Carlo Farneti to illustrate the work, 4 original watercolours by Louise Ibels and 2 signed watercolours by Leon Courbouleix; all house in modern maroon morocco boxes with gilt detail and lettering; a fine copy.
