First paperback edition in book form (published simultaneously with the cloth edition); 8vo;a few minor, random spots to first and last few leaves, otherwise fine; publisher's orange wrappers, spine faded and a little chipped at extremities, light spotting to edges of text block, otherwise a very good copy.

  3. Folio (578 x 36 cm). 22 double-page engravings of ships, numbered consecutively in the plate 1-22, most with dual French and Dutch titles. Contemporary red half morocco over decorative paper boards, spine richly gilt with foliate motifs, spine label lettered in gilt, a fine copy.

First edition, series 1, issues 1-6; oblong 4to (21 x 30.5 cm); 36 lithographs in colour by Charles Mozin, six in each part, margins slightly browned, very minor foxing; original printed green wrappers with thread ties, some wear, small tear to part VI, in a green cloth clamshell box, spine with gilt title, an excellent set.

  5. First edition, signed by the author; 8vo; portrait frontispiece, illustrations, a few minor spots to preliminary and terminal pages; publisher's maroon cloth, lettered in gilt, rubbed at extremities, lightly dust soiled, browning to endpapers, otherwise good.

First edition, 2 parts, 48 livraisons in part I and 26 in part II ; folio (38 x 27 cm); 589 hand-coloured lithographic plates with printed captions and some with publisher's blind stamp, one lithographic dedication, 3pp. letterpress content biofolium for part I, with annotations annotated, tape marks and leaves detached, plates tipped in as issued, except 5 plates in part I which are from a later issue, captions mostly in French or in French and German (as in the sections for the Swedish, Swiss and French armies), plates for the Austrian Army are heightened with gum arabic, plates are in excellent condition overall, a few with tape repairs, one foxed and a few with marginal tears; each livraison in the original grey printed wrappers, of a few different designs, with the text in French or German, numbered in ink manuscript (extremities rubbed, creased and with short nicks and tears, about one-third with splits to joints, some almost detached, livraison 25 of part 2 with crude tape repairs to joints, part I contained in the original portfolio with printed paper-covered sides, green silk ties (extremities rubbed, a couple of short splits to joints); with a near contemporary metal box used to house at least part of the set, a fine example.

First edition, folio (35 x 24 cm); viii, 2-35 pp., hand-coloured engraved title, 35 hand-coloured engraved plates, minor foxing to one plate and occasional staining, endpapers replaced, later quarter red morocco and cloth binding by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, spine in six parts with gilt text to second and third parts, raised bands.

Landscape 4to (19 x 28 cm); 11 etched plates of various dock yards including London, Limehouse, Blackwall Reach, foxed and age-toned: publisher's illustrated wrapppers, ink manuscript to top left-hand corner; 'Nos 5 & 6', worn, soiled and chipped with mall lost to upper wrapper, spine chipped and split but holding.

September). 8vo, [16], [6](list of subscribers), [2] (blank), 286, [2](publisher's advertisement, blank), with a hand-coloured copper-engraved frontispiece and 20 partly hand-coloured copper-engraved plates on 17 sheets; pencil drawing of a mounted soldier to front free endpaper; some light spotting, small marginal mark to pl. 1; contemporary speckled calf, spine ruled in gilt, gilt morocco lettering-piece, edges gilt; edges a little rubbed, corners bumped, a few small scuffs, nonetheless a very good copy with fine provenance.

(21.5 x 31.5 cm) , 20 chromolithographs after Simkin, including title-page vignette, extra-illustrated with the complete set of 20 original watercolour drawings by Simkin, handsomely bound by Riviere in full crushed red levant morocco, gilt extra, broad gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt, slipcase, joints lightly rubbed, a unique item in fine condition.
