First edition, folio (41.5 x 31.5 cm), xxi, [iii]] pp., introduction by Hilaire Belloc, some spotting to text pages; illustrated with 20 hand-pulled warm-toned gravures from plates prepared by Coburn and printed under his supervision at the Ballantyne Press, mounted on grey card; contemporaryl green morocco-backed grey boards gilt lettered, spine worn, extremities worn.

  3. First edition. 2 vols, folio (45 x 28.5 cm), engraved additional title to volume 1, folding engraved map and 90 plates, engraved illustrations in text, contemporary polished calf gilt, new labels, repairs to joints and corners, a handsome country house copy.

  4. First edition; 8vo (225 x 155 mm); 12 tissue-guarded, colour illustrations by Harry Morley and a further 8 in sepia, neat gift presentation to half-title; near contemporary half morocco by Hatchards, Piccadillly, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, as published, spine darkened, rubbed at extremities, otherwise very good.

  5. Second edition, revised, folio, xvi, 464 pp., 37 engravings including large folding map, most full page, 1 double-page, contemporary russia, rebacked, later endpapers, corners worn, a very good, clean copy.

  6. First edition. Folio, xix, [1], 326, [2] pp., 29 engraved plates including large folding map, contemporary mottled calf gilt, joints cracked but firm, corners worn, spine rubbed, a very good clean copy.

  7. Together 3 volumes, 8vo. First work: 2 vols, fourth edition of vol. I, second edition of vol. II, vol. I with ads before title, vol. II with half-title and errata leaf at end. Second work: First edition. complete but with erratic pagination (pages 136-139 not used), contemporary mottled calf gilt, red sprinkled edges, vol. II lacks label, spines rubbed, light wear to tops of spines, a very good set.

  8. First edition. 8 volumes bound in 4, 4to, with an aquatint dedication and 308 hand-coloured aquatint plates by and after Daniell bound at rear of volumes, the deluxe issue with all the plates mounted on card, with the frequently missing large folding engraved index map (strengthened to verso), occasional spotting (chiefly marginal), a few plates a little toned, some offsetting from plates to next plate versos, contemporary green half morocco gilt, bound as usual without the uncoloured engraved plate of Kemaes Head Pembrokeshire, an excellent set.

  9. 18 bright and fresh watercolours, most of Scottish Lowland scenery, including coastal loch and sea views, and a few continental lakeside views, each average 17.5 x 25 cm (7 x 10 inches), on stiff wove paper mounted at corners to album leaves, along with several other pencil drawings, two with monochrome washes, by Burgess, including an excellent tree study, and his pupil, Lady Harriett Kerr, 3 initialled by her, mostly further continental landscapes, contained in a half-calf album, 4to. The watercolours in good, clean condition, the drawings generally likewise, the binding rubbed, corners slightly worn, calf spine sunned, cloth boards also unevenly faded.

  10. First edition, 4to (41 x 33 cm), large paper copy, early issue with pre-publication watermarks, folding map, 24 aquatint plates in 2 states, monochrome on india paper and hand coloured, 2 hand coloured vignettes, by R.G. Reeve (13), C. Bentley (5), J. Bailey and J. Fielding, after Westall (19) and Owen; usual light offsetting to plates, contemporary green half russia gilt, rebacked preserving spine, rubbed, all edges gilt, an excellent example.
