Switzerland. Handbook for Switzerland and the Alps of Savoy

First edition of the first handbook to Switzerland published by Murray, second 'pirate' issue. These 'pirate' issues are extremely scarce and rarely seen. This copy has slightly different pagination to the copy in the Lister bibliography. It also mentions a map on the title-page and at end of the introduction but there is no map in the book. There is an engraved frontispiece of Berne and an engraved folding panorama of the ' Lac du Zurich dessine depuis L'Hotel Baur'. This edition is much smaller but contains more pages than the 'official' first edition published a year earlier in 1838.
