A French version of this historical guide to the Moscow Kremlin published on the occasion of the coronation of Alexander III on 15 May 1883. Its author Fabricius (1847-1914) was a military engineer who held a post at the Kremlin for eight years overseeing the general maintenance of the complex, as well as reconstruction of a number of buildings. He was also responsible for setting up lighting and illumination at the Kremlin for the tsar's coronation.

This richly illustrated guide uncovers the role of the Moscow Kremlin as a symbol of the Russian state throughout history starting from XII century. The second part of the publication provides an overview of the Kremlin's main buildings.
