First edition. Devoted entirely to edible fruit and nuts, this work was issued periodically and completed in July 1823. The preface, written anonymously, records Brookshaw's death in 'the course of the last winter', going on to say 'it is hoped... that the present work... will... form a suitable monument to Brookshaw's genius and talent.' George Brookshaw was considered as one of the finest fruit illustrators of his time and his great work, the Pomona Britannica, is regarded as the equal in its own field in importance and quality to Thornton's Temple of Flora.
