A presentation copy inscribed on the front pastedown by the author to his son, Edward Craig, 'Teddy from Papa. June, 1912. London'. Of the many children Edward Gordon Craig fathered, Teddy, his third child and first son, was the only one to be taken under his wing. There he studied and mastered wood-engraving, printing, photography, and model-making while working with his father on The Mask, a journal for theatre and the arts. He would later write his father's biography under the pseudonym Edward Carrick, and enjoyed a successful career as a film designer and illustrator, running what is thought to have been the first school of film design.
