Richardson, the noted naturalist, accompanied Franklin on his first and second expeditions. The present work includes the journals of Richardson and Rae on the MacKenzie, Arctic, and Coppermine rivers in 1849. The appendix contains a comparative table of dialects spoken by the Eskimo. The book also contains one of the earliest listings of Canadian and Arctic plants.
