A lovely copy, in an attractive binding, of this uncommon edition of Pallas's celebrated travel
The publisher, in his preface (probably mistakenly bound in this copy at the beginning of vol. 2), explains that these volumes comprise volumes five and six of the Histoire des Découvertes faites par des Savans Voyageurs dans plusieurs contrées de la Russie & de la Perse (Berne, 1779-1784) - a collection of travels in Russia and Persia written by Peter Simon Pallas, Samuel Gottlieb Gmelin, and Ivan Ivanovich Lepekhin.

These volumes, complete in themselves, were written by Pallas and describe the geography, ethnography, flora and fauna of Russian Siberia.
