A splendid production, with Paul Nash's suitably suprematist decorations and binding design, distinctly uncommon in such good condition. Originally published in 1838, Lermontov's poem is set in the 16th century, during Oprichnina times, and is metrically patterned in the style of a Russian folk epic (bylina).
