'Excellent narrative of sport and exploration in the Abyssinian hinterland' (Czech). Powell-Cotton made his expedition under the protection of Emperor Menelik. He himself took the numerous photographs of the scenery, people and game of the little known districts through which he passed. Of the six Appendices, number V is entitled Hints to Sportsmen, intended for those contemplating an Abyssinian trip.

The later re-issue, produced by the family, using the sheets from the first edition and the Roland Ward endpapers, and the distinctive lettering to the spine found on the first issue.
