The Lines of my Hand.

Los Angeles, Lustrum Press, 1972
£350

Preceded only by a deluxe edition published by Yugensha in Tokyo in the same year. The Lines of My Hand is arguably Robert Frank's most important book alongside The Americans, establishing his autobiographical, oft confessional, approach. The work chronologically follows Frank's career, from early photos in Switzerland in the forties, to images of his travels in Peru, Paris, Valencia, London and Wales, alongside the contact sheets from his fifties journey through the States, that resulted in The Americans, as well as more intimate family portraits.
