BECKETT, Samuel.

Imagination Dead Imagine.

Translated from the French by the author.

London, Calder and Boyars, 1965

A short prose text, first published in French in Les Lettres Nouvelles the same year, it evolved from the longer work, All Strange Away. It is consistent with Beckett's preoccupation with cylinders and closed spaces in his work of the 1960s and explores 'the theme of the dying imagination yet conscious of its own activity'.
