Richard Simkin (1850–1926), British artist and illustrator, was employed by the War Office to design recruiting posters, and to illustrate the Army and Navy Gazette.

First edition. Landscape 4to. (21.5 x 31.5 cm) , 20 chromolithographs after Simkin, including title-page vignette, extra-illustrated with the complete set of 20 original watercolour drawings by Simkin, handsomely bound by Riviere in full crushed red levant morocco, gilt extra, broad gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt, slipcase, joints lightly rubbed, a unique item in fine condition.
