Edward Stanford Ltd, London, 1885
£850

Detailed survey of London, at a scale of two inches to one mile extending North to South from Kingsbury Green, Crouch End and Snaresbrook to Anerley, and from Kew to 'Abbeywood', 'Lesness Heath' and Bexley Heath.

Stanford used the base map - his 'Map of London and its environs ...' - for a series of maps of the changing political face of London; frequently revised and updated (Hyde identifies 36 different versions), individual maps from the sequence are therefore very scarce.

The 1885 Redistribution of Seats Act laid down the law for the creation of the modern British constituency system, as an adjunct to the Great Reform Act of the previous year.
