Chinese art rare books

4to album (33 x 26 cm)l; 24 gouaches on pith paper, (each one 30.5 x 20.4 cm) , all mounted on paper and framed with a pale blue silk fabric border; bookplate, 3 plates with small tears ( approx 2 cm length at margins); bound in contemporary patterned decorated silk boards, some pencilling on front pastedown ; overall an attractive copy.

First edition in book form. 8vo., 32 pp., original pictorial wrappers, an excellent copy.

First edition, deluxe format, number 1 of 250 numbered copies signed by the author; photographic colour frontispiece and 29 similar plates of which 9 folding and including 2 plates on one sheet, 50 half-tone plates, captioned tissue guards, hinges reinforced [ý]as issued; publisher's brown pigskin with gilt roundel device to upper cover and lettered in gilt spine, t.e.g., others uncut, slightly rubbed at spine ends and fore-corners, but overall a very good, handsome copy.

4 volumes, folio (42.6 x 27.8 cm). Title-pages printed in red and black. Engraved title vignettes by M. Baquoy after A. Humbolt, 4 engraved head-pieces after Humbolt, 65 engraved plates, the majority of these maps, many folding or double-page (a few with contemporary outline-colouring), by Delahaye, Desbrulins, and Fonbonne after Humblot, Lucas, Le Parmentier and others, engraved and woodcut initials, woodcut head-pieces. (first half title creased with paper flaw to lower outer corner, some occasional pale spotting or minor browning, minor marginal hole in Aaaaaa1.) Contemporary French mottled calf, sides with central gilt-stamped arms, spines in seven compartments with six raised bands, each with red and brown gilt-lettered lettering pieces in two compartments, gilt-decorated panels in the rest, small repairs to extremities, a very handsome set.

Broadside (31 x 29.5 cm. approx), printed in blue ink with a large pictorial vignette surrounded by an ornamental border.

Landscape quarto (27 x 29 cm). 118 ink drawings, each drawing on one side of fine double-folded paper with manuscript caption in English; several small marginal tears, some spotting to one page. Contemporary pink wrappers; with tears and marginal losses.

Album (24.5 x 13.5 cm) comprising 70 watercolours on paper, many heightened with gold, with inscriptions in Chinese, modern green calf-backed slipcase.
