Single volume, decorated manuscript copied on polished blue Western laid paper watermarked '1815', two parts in one volume, in Farsi and Arabic, numerous astrological diagrams throughout the text, 93 leaves plus 2 free endpapers, 220 x 170 mm; single column, 19 lines informal naskh script, some overlining and important phrases and words in red, numerous astrological diagrams and tables in the text, catch-words, some very slight browning and occasional scuff marks, overall bright and attractive condition; contemporary leather-over pasteboards, rebacked, extremities worn.

  2. Single volume, illuminated manuscript on polished paper, in Arabic, 198 leaves, complete, 105 by 65 mm; single column, 21 lines elegant black naskh per page, surah headings in ref thuluth against gilt banners throughout, opening two leaves with elaborately decorated gilt head-pieces and further gilt polychrome additions to the outer borders, fihrist at the front of the Qur'an and closing prayers at the end copied in blue and red within arabesque shapes set against decorative floral backgrounds, catch-words, a few small stains and light finger-soiling, overall very bright and attractive condition; contemporary lacquered boards, framed within gilt borders (later gilding), edges painted with floral motifs in gilt, rebacked, a handsome copy.

  3. Single large panel containing the entire text of the Qur'an copied on 30 individual sheets (one Juz' per sheet), illuminated manuscript on paper, in Arabic, complete, total 1170 by 721 mm (each Qur'anic panel 155 by 120 mm); each panel in single column, 50 lines miniature black nasta'liq script, 5 illuminated cartouches above the text with text in gold thuluth against red and blue backgrounds, illuminated polychrome head-piece opening the first panel of text, gilt decorated borders around each of the 30 panels of text, in clean and crisp condition.

  4. Single volume, illuminated manuscript on polished paper, in Arabic with some interlinear translations to Farsi, complete, 116 leaves, collation: i1 (single font free endpaper), ii-xiv8, iv6 (last 5 leaves blank), 190 by 125 mm; single column, 7 lines fine scribal black naskh, with some interlinear translations in red nasta'liq, one large illuminated polychrome head-piece and a further 14 illuminated banners opening sections of the text, each with heading in gold thuluth against decorated foliate designed very skillfully executed, some minor water-staining to top edges (causing slight loss to margins of first to leaves) not affecting text, text slightly faded in places, else bright and attractive condition; housed in fine contemporary lacquered boards painted with floral designs within ornamental medallions (in the manner of Islamic bindings), with gold additions to outer covers, inner covers painted with narcissus flower designs of a very high quality, boards backed in leather, spine and extremities slightly rubbed, a few scratches to lacquer, overall very attractive binding.

  5. Single volume, decorated manuscript on blue paper, in Arabic and Farsi, 145 leaves (including one final free endpaper), complete, 168 by 110 mm; single column, 15 lines formal black naskh script, catch-words throughout, early ink ownership seals to first and final leaves, a few minor smudges else attractive and clean internal condition; contemporary tan limp leather binding, ruled in blind, extremities lightly rubbed, water-stain to lower cover.

  6. Five volumes, each containing one Juz' of the Qur'an, illuminated manuscripts on thick polished buff paper, in Arabic, containing Juz' VI (An-Nisa 4:148 to Al-Maidah 5:82), Juz' VIII (Al-An'am 6:111 to Al-Araf 7:170), Juz' XI (At-Towbah 9:94 to Hud 11:5), Juz' XVII (Al-Anbiya 21:1 to Al-Hajj 22:78) and Juz' XXX (An-Naba 78:1 to An-Nas 114:6), each Juz' 16-19 leaves (together 84 leaves, plus some contemporary free endleaves to a couple volumes) and all textually complete in themselves, 265 by 170 mm; single column, 11 lines bold black naskh script with diacritics, some vocalisation in red, surah headings throughout in red thuluth script, large polychrome head-pieces (unwan) opening each of the Juz', these executed to a very high standard by a fine hand and illuminated in gold, leaves ruled in blue and gold throughout, contemporary catch-words, some smudges and light staining, a few sections cockled from damp; housed in uniform contemporary Qajar lacquered boards, inside covers painted and ruled in red, outer covers a dark tan with gilt floral pattern to frame outer edges, all rebacked, a little worn in places.

  7. single leaf, ink and gouache on paper, leaf laid on to thick card, total leaf 325 by 200 mm (miniature 202 by 120 mm); two text blocks, each containing two lines verse in black nasa'liq script, some small sections of overpainting, some small sections of darkening and light finger-soiling, framed within multiple gilt rulings, wider margins painted in gilt foliate decorations, reverse blank, unframed.

  8. Illuminated manuscript on thick Shirazi paper, 6 books in one volume, in Farsi, 324 leaves (including a front and final free endpaper), 325 by 215 mm.; four columns, 21 lines elegant black nasta'liq with some headings and sections in red, six illuminated polychrome headings opening each of the books, each featuring bold colours and arabesque designs, text blocks ruled in red, turquoise and blue, catch-words throughout, some very light marginal water-staining, a few preliminary leaves skilfully re-margined, a few small repairs elsewhere, spine cracked with a few leaves and gatherings becoming loose, overall very bright and attractive volume; housed in eighteenth-century dark brown morocco over pasteboards, ruled in gilt with cut-out medallions to covers , decorated with gilt filigree detailing against a peach-coloured backdrop, rebacked, edges a little rubbed, preserved in leather-backed box contemporary to binding, lightly rubbed.

  9. Illuminated manuscript on paper, in Arabic, containing the first 7 aya of the first surah of the Qur'an (al-Fatihah 1:1 - 1:7), 490 by 380 mm.; single column, 5 lines large scribal nasta'liq diagonally inscribed, outlined in cloud shapes and set against an elaborately illuminated gold background decorated with intricately illustrated spiralling floral patterns with polychrome colour additions, lower right-hand corner containing the scribe's name and date of completion, panel framed within multiple polychrome and gilt rulings, including a banner formed of multiple gold cartouches in Safavid style of illumination; very clean and bright condition; leaf mounted to thick card.

  10. Illuminated manuscript on polished paper, in Farsi, 73 leaves (plus a contemporary free endpaper at the end), complete, 182 by 110 mm.; double column, 17 lines elegant and refined black nasta'liq, vibrant and fine illuminated polychrome and gold heading opening the text, twenty-six miniature paintings in the text, depicting important scenes in the romance and painted with vivid colours in the contemporary Qajar style, leaves double ruled in red, blue and gold, tissue-guards loosely inserted throughout; some very faint spotting to final few gatherings, overall very bright and attractive condition; housed in contemporary leather-backed gilt lacquered boards depicting floral sprays ruled and framed within corner-pieces and a gilt border, contemporary paper label to spine inscribed with title of the work in Farsi, spine ends very lightly worn, extremities slightly rubbed, overall bright and attractive binding.
