Limited edition, one of 30 copies hand coloured by Miro, signed by the author and the artist on the verso, from a total edition of 100; one leaf, unfolded, small oblong 4to (11 x 27 cm), lithograph heightened with watercolour, pastel and india ink on wove paper, lower right corner slightly creased, otherwise in excellent condition.

    Text: engraved frontispiece by Ingouf l'aîné, title page with engraved vignette by Macret, dedication with engraved head-piece by Bruneau, each part with 3 engraved vignettes (including 2 by Louis-Nicolas Van Blarenberghe), 2 engraved tail-pieces, one engraving by Van Blarenberghe at end, and 11 plates; frontispiece and title with foxing.
    Atlas with 32 double-page plates, including 3 folding, most after Van Blarenberghe (1 and 24 not signed, 21 by Dupuis); a few marginal closed tears. Contemporary full red morocco gilt, spines with raised bands, atlas with gilt arms to covers, gilt edges.

Second edition in French, 8vo, *, **8, A-Zz8, a-e8, f4, g-i8,[xxxii], 413, [xlviii] pp., woodcut printer's device on title and verso of final leaf, woodcut head-pieces, initials and 20 woodcut illustrations, contemporary ink inscription to foot of title, light water-stain mostly at beginning and end, paper flaw hole to L2 with loss of catchword, short tear to lower margin of Tt2, contemporary limp vellum, lacking ties, an excellent example.

Contemporary speckled calf gilt (minor wear to joints and extremities), an excellent example.

Engraved portrait frontispiece, large folding track chart with the route of the Rurik outlined in colour, two further charts on one sheet, and 104 hand-coloured lithographs; occasional spotting throughout, as usual; one text leaf with repair to margin.
