First edition thus; large paper copy, folio, (43 x 33 cm); frontispiece and 16 engraved plates on India paper by William Daniell after Robert Smirke, light foxing throughout; contemporary maroon morocco, richly gilt, raised bands, all edges gilt, corners slightly rubbed, a very good copy; [2], 99, [1] pp.

  2. Rare de Luxe edition, presentation copy inscribed by the author to his wife; 4to; 45 full-page illustrated plates by M. Veniamin Pavlovich Bielkin, including frontispiece, scattered light foxing, hinges cracked but holding; publisher's brown pictorial leather with silhouette of minarets against a night sky, gilt letting to spine and upper cover, binding slightly worn, top edge gilt, others uncut, a good copy overall.

  3. Limited edition, number 8 of 1,000 copies, signed by the Thomson; 4to, (320 x 265 mm); 22 colour plates with engraved and captioned tissue-guards, further engraved illustrations and vignettes throughout, toning to extremities, otherwise fine; publisher's cream vellum, heavily gilt panelled and blocked to upper cover and spine, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, a little rubbed and bumped to extremities, otherwise near fine.

  4. First edition thus, first impression, one of 352 copies, from a total edition of 518, all on Arches pure rag paper; 3 vols, folio, (42.8 x 34.5 cm); collotype facsimile illustrations hand-coloured through stencil, text onlays, light spotting to prelims, scattered light toning to text (not affecting illustrations), otherwise unmarked internally; publisher's tan quarter morocco over marbled paper-covered boards, gilt lettering to spine, spine slightly faded on text volume, matching morocco-edged slipcases, overall a bright and attractive set.

  5. Limited edition, one of 1650 copies on velin pur fil de Rives, 3 vols, 4to ( 24 x 19 cm); illustrated in colour throughout after original watercolours by A. E. Marty and ornaments after R. Jacquet, marbled pink endpapers; later half burgundy morocco over gilt marbled boards, signed Jean Etienne, in corresponding marbled slipcases with morocco entries, spines slightly sunned, an excellent set.

  6. First edition thus; 8vo, (24.5 x 16.5 cm); 12 full-page black-and-white plates by Norman Tealby, including frontispiece, illustrated head- and tail-pieces, unmarked internally, decorated endpapers; bound in red morocco for Asprey, elaborately gilt, gilt lettering to spine, top edge gilt, others uncut, original front cover and spine bound in at end, a fine copy; [xxxii], 220pp.

Limited edition, number 83 of 500 copies signed by the illustrator; large 4to, (29.2 x 23.3 cm); 15 full-page line drawings in black and white by Beresford Egan, colour frontispiece with captioned tissue guard ('Imaginary Portrait of Baudelaire'), title vignette and vignette on p.135 in black and green, decorative woodcut initials and tail-pieces, autograph note by the bookbinder tipped in, minimal foxing and marginal soiling; modern dark-green morocco by Robert Porter with a stylised floral and leaf design, top edge trimmed, others uncut, edges slightly browned, overall an excellent copy; 142, [1, printer's imprint], [1, blank]pp.

  8. First illustrated edition, number 32 of 125 copies on Montval paper; 8vo, (23.7 x 17.8 cm); title page in red and black, etched illustrations by A. -E. Marty, some offsetting, otherwise unmarked internally, coloured endpapers; publisher's pictorial russet morocco by I. Blanchetière, with inlaid designs in greens and blue repeating the illustration on p.26 (without figures), gilt lettering to spine, all edges gilt, pastedowns within gilt fillet and inlaid morocco, matching morocco-edged slipcase, rubbed, overall an excellent copy; [2], 115, [4]pp.

Limited edition, one of 200 copies on Japanese Ho-sho paper, from a total edition of 350; two parts in one volume; 8vo, (26.5 x 19 cm); text in French, 28 colour woodblock illustrations, including frontispieces, additional black illustrations throughout text, red velvet endpapers; publisher's red morocco, pictorial covers, top edge gilt, gilt lettering to spine, modern dustjacket in red half-morocco, modern red morocco bordered slipcase, overall an excellent copy.
