'Londres' [Paris or Geneva, Cazin], 1780
£2,200

Attractive example of Voltaire's licentious and incendiary parody of the life of French national heroine Joan of Arc.

A notorious work in its time, especially when further enhanced and enlivened by illustrations of an erotic or risqué nature, as with this copy, ensuring it was inevitably one of the most suppressed and popular books of the eighteenth century.
