First edition; large 4to (370 mm x 300 mm), xii, 238 pp; 42 aquatint plates and plans including 21 hand-coloured (3 folding) and 3 tinted, one woodcut, numerous vignettes throughout, 13 plates and 2 vignettes with overlays, with half-title; bound in contemporary drab boards, printed label on spine, some neat restoration to the corners, some slight wear to the boards; all housed in a modern slipcase.

(34 x 27 cm)., stipple-engraved portrait frontispiece, 25 aquatint plates and 2 line-engraved plates, of which 12 are hand-coloured or tinted and 12 plates have overlays, 10 aquatint head and tail pieces and numerous woodcut illustrations in text, 2 of the vignettes with overlays, folding plate at page 208 with tears into image repaired, contemporary half calf, joints and extremities repaired, lightly worn.

One volume (of two), large folio (67 x 51 cm). Plate volume only, tinted lithographed plate of a Byzantine cross, chromolithographed title, and 39 numbered plates, including 13 chromolithographs, 4 tinted lithographs and 22 engravings (of which two double page plates), with an additional lithograph of Saint Sophia bound in; some light spotting, mainly marginal. Without the 2 leaves of list of plates. Publisher's printed boards with stylized Greek cross on front board, blue cloth spine; board edges slightly rubbed.

Large folio. Title within woodcut vignette, 118 full-page woodcut medallion portraits by Rudolf Wyssenbach after Rudolf Manuel Deutsch, each within architectural woodcut border, pp. 128 text within woodcut boards, more than 100 figurative initials and ornamental grotesque decorations by Peter Flötner. Contemporary vellum; neat repairs, soiled, internally clean and fresh.

First edition, second issue, ONE OF A FEW PROOF COPIES PRINTED ON AN EXTRA LARGE SIZE ON IMPERIAL PAPER, folio, 57.5 x 39cm, 36, 8 pp., one hundred and twenty-three plates from original drawings by John Coney, George Shepherd &c. etched by J. Skelton, W. Wise &c. , uncut, contemporary half calf, marbled boards, original paper label to upper cover, rebacked and recornered to style, red morocco lettering piece, an excellent copy.
