First edition. 8vo, xxiii, [3], 408 pp, frontispiece, title-page vignette, folding map, 3 plates, 5 illustrations in text, ex libris to pastedown and corresponding ink ownership inscription to endpaper; original green cloth gilt, spine slightly bumped, in a modern green moire slipcase with green morocco corners and entry, gilt ruled, an excellent copy.

I with additional engraved vignette title by Bolt after Kinninger (foxed) of the supper scene between Commendatore and Don Giovanni, printed title with attractive ink presentation to upper corner margin, dated 1877) and 2 following pp. of text, engraved musical score 6-292pp, vol. II with printed title and engraved musical score 294-590pp, with separate printed divisional title 'Anhang von spaeter eingelegten Stuecken', some sporadic light foxing and minor staining, mostly to final leaf of vol. I, some leaves trimmed at upper edge with loss to pagination in vol.2 but in the main clean and bright; modern diced calf, upper covers lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers and edges, most attractive.

Landscape folio (45.1 x 56.9 cm), [4], ii, [2], 146, [4] pp., with 40 hand-coloured aquatint plates; a few short marginal tears, tear to plate I repaired, occasional light dust-staining and spotting; contemporary red straight-grained morocco, borders and lozenge roll-tooled in gilt and blind, spine gilt in compartments, lettered directly in one, all edges gilt; neatly rebacked and recornered, a little worn at extremities, corners bumped, nonetheless a very good copy.
