This miniature edition of Hockney's Six Fairy Tales is inscribed to Christopher Scott, partner of The Met's legendary curator Henry Geldzahler. Geldzhaler had met Hockney at Andy Warhol's apartment in 1963 and the pair instantly got along. Five years later, Hockney began a series of seven monumental canvases of double portraits which would come to define his career. Geldzahler and Scott in their New York apartment are the subject of one of these paintings and Hockney would have just finished working on it when gave this book to Chris.
