First edition, 2 volumes, 8vo, xii, 397; vii, 390 pp., 2 pages ads at end of each volume dated March 1869, 2 frontispieces, 6 full-page engraved plates, 5 illustrations in text, large folding map, original green blind-stamped cloth gilt, old bookseller's label to upper covers, neat repairs to inner hinges, scattered light foxing (beginning and end of both vols and pages 92-98 vol. II where a couple of newspaper clippings have been inserted on blank paper) a very good set.

Third edition. 2 volumes, 4to, 2 folding maps, 2 facsimiles, 2 leaves of engraved music, 17 finely hand-coloured and 1 uncoloured aquatint plates, modern blue half morocco gilt, a little light toning, a very good copy.
