Bound in an attractive contemporary red morocco, with gilt ornaments to covers and spine, endpapers with a gilt geometrical pattern.

First edition, number 101 of 150 copies; 4to (26 x 21 cm); 27 text illustrations wood-engraved by Pierre Bouchet and printed in colour after designs by Barbier; presentation copy, signed by Barbier on front blank; loose as issued in original pictorial wrappers after Barbier, publisher's burgundy cloth chemise and slipcase.

In-4 couronne, maroquin lie-de-vin, doublure de maroquin bleu canard serti d'un filet doré, gardes de moire lie-de-vin, doubles gardes de papier, tête dorée, double filet doré sur les coupes, couverture et dos, étui (Yseux, succ. Thierry-Simier).

Limited edition number 307 of 425 numbered copies; 4to; 20 colour plates by Icart and a facsimile letter by Colette on blue paper tipped-in opposite the limitation page, text in French, near-contemporary binding by A. Szekely in half morocco over marbled boards gilt, marbled endpapers and top edge gilt, a little rubbed at extremities, otherwise very good.

Leaves measuring 19.4 cm x 13.8 cm. pp. [96], or, A8, B4, C8, D4, E8, F4, G-H6, with the final blank leaf (H6) present; occasional minor coeval underlining and marginalia to earlier part of text, very light faded stain to lower margin at gutter throughout (not affecting text), bibliographical clippings tipped onto front endpapers. Bound in antique style calf.

Tall 8vo; engraved portrait, contemporary green morocco in the Gothic style, multiple gilt fillets, decorative corner-pieces with red morocco onlays, elaborately gilt with red, sienna, burnt sienna and black onlays, flat spine, fan design within gilt fillets, red, sienna and black onlays, gilt dentelles and all edges gilt, by 'Gruel'.
