'Originally part of the 'five hundred thousand word book, The Man of the World' (so-called in a letter to Ezra Pound, April 29, 1925, Yale), The Apes of God was written intermittently from 1922-1930. Two passages were published in earlier draft form in The Criterion, with the help of T.S. Eliot' (Morrow & Lafourcade, A Bibliography of the Writings of Wyndham Lewis).

First edition, one of 750 copies signed by the author; 4to; decorations by the author, some foxing; original peach cloth, tiles to spine in blue, with the dust jacket designed by Wyndham Lewis; minor spotting early and late but a superb copy in the very lightly marked dust jacket.
