First US edition, first impression; 8vo (22 x 15 cm); presentation copy, signed on the title page, 'V.S. Naipual for Al Murray', cartographic endpapers, top edge stained; original burgundy cloth, author's initials blind stamped to upper board, title and floral detail gilt stamped to spine, slightly rubbed, with the dust jacket in a later state, a good copy.

First edition; 4to; frontispiece aquatint finished with exquisite hand-colouring, a further 41 illustrations, many full-page, captioned tissue-guards, modern Ex Libris to upper paste-down, the odd spot and blemish but mainly fine; contemporary full tan calf by Zaehnsdorf, gilt armorial device to covers, graduated panels and dentelles, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, a trifle rubbed and bumped at corners, else very good; iii, [blank], 203, [vii] pp.

Depicting Churchill in uniform (4th Queen's Own Hussars), head and shoulders, vintage silverprint, signed on mount 'Winston S. Churchill 14 June 1918', 280 x 320mm (11 by 12½ inches), framed and glazed 480 x 410mm (19 by 16¼ inches), evenly age toned, otherwise very good.

First edition, inscribed by Queen Mary [consort of King George V] 'To Lord Cowdray from Mary R. Sept: 1924. ' on front free endpaper; 8vo; a few minor, random spots; publisher's red cloth gilt, a little rubbed at extremities, spine slightly faded, otherwise a very good copy with an excellent provenance; x, 351 (blank), 32pp.

Titles printed in red & black, engraved portrait, complete with 1380 engraved plates on 1379 sheets, approximately 200 double-page; a few plates lightly browned, occasional small, light waterstaining to fore-margin, generally crisp, clean & fresh. Contemporary sprinkled calf gilt; lightly rubbed, minor wear to extremities.

8vo (16.7 x 10.8 cm). Calligraphic manuscript on paper in the style of a printed book. pp. [10], v, [3], 394, xxii, [10], signed at end of the Dedication to the King, 'Poncet delagrave,' all leaves ruled in brown and red inks, one full-page portrait and one half-page medallion portrait, several elaborate head-pieces, tail-pieces, initials and ornaments, ms. slip to page 206 bearing a maritime subject drawn by pen overlaying a medallion representing Louis XVI with the inscription 'Lud. Mag. Religionis Assertor et Vindex'; original green morocco, gilt-stamped arms of Louis XVI on covers, red morocco doublures with gilt-stamped arms of Marie-Antoinette, flat spine decorated all over with gilt-stamped anchor ornaments, red morocco lettering label, gilt-filetted board edges, pink watered silk linings, all edges gilt, housed in later green morocco pull-off case.
