Charles Francis George Richard Schwerdt (1862 - 1939), collector and author of this publication on shooting; his collection of books, manuscripts, prints and drawings relating to hunting, hawking and shooting, was sold after his death in a series of sales at Sotheby's, 22 May 1939-11 March 1946. The British Musuem bought a number of the lots. See Hind's report to the Trustees, 10 May 1939.

Third edition; lge. 8vo (25 x 16 cm); engraved, hand-coloured frontispiece a further 9 engraved plates, three of which hand-coloured, near-contemporary ink inscription, dated 2nd April 1829 to half-title, slight staining to top edge with resultant weeping to top margin of early leaves but only prominent on margin to plate opposite p49, not affecting image or text, some very random, light spotting to a few pages, otherwise very clean and bright; near-contemporary diced calf gilt, speckled edges, rubbing to boards, else very handsome; xxii, 470pp.
