Four annuals from the popular 19th century magazine produced by Samuel Beeton, which originally serialised the articles by his wife Isabella Beeton, subsequently the foundation for her Book of Household Management. The periodical became more famous, or infamous perhaps, however for the introduction of the Conversazione section in 1867, which featured letters from readers (including men) extolling the virtues of corsetry, cross-dressing, the corporal punishment of children, and most notoriously the whipping of girls and flagellation in general, some examples of which can be found herein...
