First US edition, first issue (with errata to verso of title in vol II); 2 vols, 8vo, (20.2 x 13.5 cm); illustrated throughout, hinges slightly loose on vol I but holding, occasional marginal annotations in vol I, slight spotting to prelims, slight marginal discolouration of leaves to both vols, pale yellow endpapers; publisher's russet cloth stamped in black with frames and cornerpieces, gilt lettering to spine, black ink stain to upper cover of vol II, spines bumped, corners slightly rubbed, overall a very good set; [vi], 409, [2]ads; [vii], 436, [12]ads pp.

Tall narrow 8vo (232 x 126 mm); comprising 60 double-page charts for locomotive specifications, 14 with ms. additions, 13 original hand-coloured drawings of G.N.R. locomotives, a few others with unfinished pencil sketchings; original roan, rubbed at extremities, upper hinge pulling slightly with some splitting.

Second edition, 5 vols, 8vo (16.5 x 10 cm), pp. 349, 368, 375, 354, 375; contemporary calf, flat spines in six compartments, red morocco lettering piece to second, black morocco numbering roundel to fourth, gilt ruled, citron edges; slightly scuffed; overall a very good set.

First edition; 8vo (20 x 12 cm); one large folding plate; bound in contemporary red morocco, covers with gilt coat of arms to the centre and detailed vine borders, spine gilt ruled and title, ex-libris and small French customs sticker to front free endpaper, green ribbon marker, blue silk endpapers, minor foxing throughout, all edges gilt, a near-fine copy; [2] 87pp.

3 vols, 4to; each volume with one pop-up diagram and numerous black & white plates and illustrations within the text, some minor toning and a few spots to preliminary and terminal pages, else near-fine; publisher's red maroon cloth, embossed in black, colour variant between vols., mildly rubbed and bumped on extremities, otherwise very good.

4to; publishers sample, 2 volumes bound in one, with pictorial cloth cover and spine samples bound in at beginning; numerous photographic illustrations, vol II (Atlas) contains 22 card pages, 13 colour pop-up illustrations with elaborate overlays of various steam and diesel motors seen in, amongst others, a steam train, the Wright Brothers' aeroplane, motor-cars, motor-cycle, etc, full index or 'key' for each on opposite page., light spotting and occasional dust-soiling, otherwise good; original green cloth boards, rubbed, bumped, rear joint splitting but holding.

Second edition (enlarged), 4to, 142 pp., 3 engraved plates, contemporary half calf, neatly rebacked, an excellent example.
