An amazing set of the Tacoma Edition of this Oregon Trail classic by Washington Irving, originally published in 1836. The stunning cover design by artist & author Margaret Armstrong incorporates gilt titles within a pointillé oval from which feathers and arrowheads radiate alternately. The edition was produced in two bindings, this white version with burnt umber & gold decorations which is the scarcer and more sought-after, and a red cloth solely decorated in gilt. Very rare in such bright, untarnished condition.
