Addison travelled in the Levant from April to October, 1835, visiting Greece and Turkey as well as Syria. The plates, after drawings by Thackeray, are lithographed by G.E. Madeley and illustrate local costume.

First edition, 2 volumes, 8vo, complete with half-titles, 10 colored lithographed plates after drawings by William Thackeray, old tape stains to verso of frontispieces with slight show through, original green cloth gilt, neat repairs to joints, a very good copy.
